A Walk in the Park

Whew, this jet lag is rough! We all were up even earlier today…about 2:30am! My cousin mentioned being outside helps her with jet lag, so we took her advice and walked to Lumpini Park. It’s a beautiful park right in the middle of the bustling city and sky scrapers all around it. Several tuk tuk drivers stopped to give us a ride, but we said no because none of them wanted to take us to the park! They kept saying it was closed and were offering to take us to other tourist spots. It was comical…why didn’t they want us to visit the park?!

It was a beautiful day and a peaceful park. The littles played on the playground. We saw lots of runners, bikers, and numerous people doing tai chi. But the coolest part was the giant monitor lizards roaming around freely. We learned they are the second largest lizard next to the Komodo dragon. They are definitely the stars of the park. They have free rein and we were very entertained watching them sit, walk, swim and eat. They were huge and a little scary, but they didn’t bother anyone.

We left the park for a nearby food court. It was several stories and there were many different cafes and restaurants. I was so proud of the kids and all the things they were willing to try from guava smoothies to gyoza. And we ended our progressive lunch with ice cream!

We were sad to see Dory fillet on the menu…all we could think of was Finding Nemo
